Abandon Subway in Rochester NY
These images were taken on June 15, 2016. Entering the tunnel from the South Avenue entrance we headed north underneath the Rundel Library, then crossed a deteriorating catwalk above the overflow area and past the spillway arches and emerged into the light of the aqueduct.
The subway which was operational from June December 1927 to June 30, 1956, was built as an adaptation of the abandoned Erie Canal.
